Data sources

The built-in staple foods use values from public nutrition databases. Every entry comes from exactly one record, so every value can be verified. Packaged products and barcodes come from Open Food Facts.

  • USDA FoodData Central

US Department of Agriculture. Main source for the built-in foods and for the share of bones, peel or stones.

  • CIQUAL 2025

ANSES, France. For foods USDA doesn’t list, such as sea bream, pangasius or kefir. Licence Ouverte / etalab 2.0.

  • Swiss Food Composition Database

© Federal Food Safety and Veterinary Office (FSVO). For products from German-speaking countries, such as quark or bread rolls.

  • Open Food Facts

Packaged products, barcode scanning and search. Open Database License (ODbL).

Recipes calculate their nutrition facts from the linked ingredients. All values refer to 100 g of the edible part — for foods with bones, peel or stones, only what you actually eat counts.
